What is a “Supplier Type” and what does each type mean?

In Tradogram, the Supplier Type is used for internal categorization purposes as an extra layer of identification and a way of grouping similar suppliers together. This field allows you to filter your supplier listing and other pages where suppliers appear, making it easier to manage large databases.

Understanding Supplier Types

This field is currently not modifiable and is limited to four specific options. While no special features exist for these types outside of categorization, they help define the relationship your business has with each vendor.

  • Strategic: These are high-value partners essential to your long-term business goals. They typically involve high-stakes collaboration and are difficult to replace.
  • Operational: These suppliers provide the essential goods or services required for your day-to-day business activities, such as utilities or office maintenance.
  • Commodity: This type refers to suppliers of standardized, widely available goods where price and availability are the primary concerns (e.g., raw materials or basic supplies).

Joint Venture: This category is reserved for suppliers with whom you have a formal shared business agreement or a collaborative partnership on specific projects.
