What is the difference between database items and external items?

Database items are a list of items that have been added or uploaded to the system’s database, and are typically items that have either been purchased before or are expected to be purchased on a regular basis.

External items are items that can be added to an order without having them on the system database. When adding an external item, one or more blank lines can be added to the order, allowing details about the external item to be added.

Both internal and external items can be present on the same purchase order.
