Does Every Item Need to be Linked to a Category?

No, it is not mandatory to link every item to a category. Item categories are optional, but they can be a very useful tool for organizing your database.

Why Use Categories?

Connecting an item to a category can make it much easier to sort and find items within your database and when you are adding them to a transaction.

Important for Multiple Branches

If your company has multiple branches, you must use categories to make an item visible across all of them. For an item to show up under every branch, you need to:

  1. Assign the item to a category.
  2. In the category's settings, make sure it is checked to be "available to all branches."
