Can a contract be edited after it’s been created?

Yes - contracts can be edited after they have been created. There are certain details that may be restricted from editing depending on the contract type, and if there are additional transactions connected to the purchase order. Here are the scenarios you may run into when editing contracts:

Editing Rules by Contract Type

1. General Contracts

General contracts can be edited at any time, regardless of whether there are existing POs connected to them or not.

2. Time & Material (T&M) Contracts

The ability to edit T&M contracts depends on whether items have been ordered:

  • Before POs are Connected: You can edit any element, similar to when you initially created the contract.
  • After POs are Connected: Once an order for at least one line item has been placed (meaning there are connected POs), you can no longer edit the core details of that specific line item within the contract. These locked details include the item's name, number, description, Unit of Measure (UOM), quantity, and price.
